Took this 2008 C6 auto Vette on a cruise today for lunch. It was a nice car, and its at a great price ($20k with 98k miles) but it just came across as disappointing to me. I can’t really put my finger on it, but it lacks the joy that I expected coming from my Miata. The dual mode exhaust sounded orgasmic and it did a right good job of getting up to highway speed, but a car that’s only fun when accelerating in a straight line is a very easy way to collect points on your license. Also the automatic was awful. I expected better from a halo car, but in auto mode it would take an eternity to kick down and only dropped one gear at a time, and the manual mode would straight up refuse to shift some of the time. Maybe if a cheap manual C5 comes around in blue I’ll join the Legion Of Old Dudes In Corvettes, but until then I will joyfully put a sizeable car payments worth of money each month into my 25 year old shitbox Miata.

An auto base corvette isn't a halo car. It's a sports car. A ZR1, however, is a halo car.

I heard a the exhaust of a C6 today, and it sounded great. I then reminded myself that the last C6 I rode in (convertible) felt like I was sitting in a fiberglass bathtub. The C7s are a lot better.

Oh yeah. The C7 is a quantum leap in interior from the C6, but the C6 really isn’t a terrible place to be. If you want “Bathtub” buy a C4.

That was more of a comment on the seating position than the interior quality. The interior wasn’t the worst I’ve experienced, but the interior felt too big for my tastes. It’s not a terrible interior, but I prefer a more intimate driving/passenger setup for a sports car. I think the C4's interior is better in this regard.

Auto. The C6 is one of those cars where it just isn’t worth it without the manual.

My father drove one of these (although manual) a few years ago and had similar sentiments. Great noise and power, but was really lacking in character/handling.
